What makes a Four Seasons resort? It’s a hotel chain known worldwide for its hospitality experiences. How does Four Seasons ensure that guests have a stay through their impeccable service and attention, to detail? Whether it’s a location or a bustling city centre how do their resorts cater to the diverse preferences of travellers? What kind of amenities and facilities can you expect from Four Seasons, including top-notch restaurants, relaxing spas and state-of-the-art fitness centres? When you stay at one of their resorts how do they showcase the furnished rooms and suites? Allow me to take you on my journey to the island of Koh Samui in Thailand.

Reception view
Reception
I’m currently exploring the Four Seasons Resort situated in Koh Samui. For me, the first impression begins at the reception area where guests receive a welcome. The journey from the entrance to the reception is truly remarkable; it’s hard to put into words just how beautiful and serene it is. With 60 villas and 11 residences nestled amidst hills offering breathtaking views of the sea this resort is truly awe-inspiring. To get around such a property with inclines they provide buggies for transportation – it’s like taking an exhilarating ride, on a luxury roller coaster.
Thailand is renowned worldwide for its biodiversity making it a beloved destination, for nature enthusiasts seeking a captivating experience of wellness.

Koh Thai Kichen view
Beach, Pool and CoCoRum
Four Seasons Koh Samui has its own private secluded beach. Located on this beach is a 40-metre infinity pool and the CoCoRum pool bar. You will find an abundance of lounges where you can relax savour delicious food and drinks and take a dip in the expansive infinity pool overlooking the shoreline. The beach offers plenty of activities from kayaking, paddleboarding, e-foil surfing, and football, to playing frisbee, etc.
CoCoRum also offers Asia’s first and only Rum Vault where you can sample rums from all over the world. The nearby Pla Pla restaurant also located on the beach was closed for renovations during our stay.

40 metre infinity pool
Serenity Pool Villa
Set amidst gardens the Serenity Pool Villa provides an idyllic retreat with its tranquil 15 square meter infinity pool. As you meander along the pathway leading to the villa you’ll be greeted by breathtaking vistas that set the stage for a stay at this family abode spanning 103 square meters (approximately 1,108 square feet). Perched on a hillside away from the beach it offers views of the Gulf of Thailand.
The wooden deck invites relaxation with loungers for your comfort. What particularly impressed me was having a refrigerator conveniently placed on the deck along, with coffee amenities. This thoughtful addition meant I didn’t have to enter and exit this villa inspired by island living.
It’s uncommon for hotels to provide dedicated curtains that effectively shield against sunlight strong winds or even rain showers—a feature that truly enhances guests’ comfort and privacy. However, these curtains would give guests the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors while still ensuring a relaxing stay.
Embroidery Personalise Bed Linen
Adding an embroidered touch to your bed linen is a way to personalize it. During my stay, at Four Seasons Koh Samui I had my initials and a special motif embroidered on the pillows. Soon as I entered I noticed that the font used was welcoming and easy to read in both English and Thai languages.
The uniqueness of the bed linen truly made it stand out creating a sense of exclusivity. This attention to detail extended to the his and hers bathroom, where towels also featured my initials. The best part was that I could take them home, for use. Behind the bed, there was a window that allowed me to gaze into the gardens while comfortably sitting on the bed.
Window Views Of Gardens through Villa
One of the aspects of staying in a villa is being able to enjoy breathtaking views of lush gardens through its windows. As I looked out from my space I was greeted by an orchestra of colors and abundant greenery. These windows serve as gateways into a world of beauty allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the tranquility of nature.
From the beauty of blooming flowers to the sway of majestic trees in the gentle breeze every view is like a masterpiece waiting to be admired. The vibrant colors and diverse textures create a sense of awe and inner peace providing the backdrop for relaxation and deep contemplation. Whether I choose to bask in the embrace of sunlight or simply gaze at the changing scenery the window views from the villa gardens offer an enchanting experience that truly captivates me. This is what I anticipate when staying in Thailand.
Dedicated Working Desk with Garden Views
The Dedicated Working Desk with Garden Views presents a solution for those who seek a productive workspace. Situated amidst surroundings this exceptional desk provides a tranquil and inspiring environment that fosters focus and productivity in my work. With its design, I can comfortably spend hours without any discomfort or distractions hindering my progress. The desk also offers storage space to keep all my essentials organized and conveniently within reach. Its robust construction ensures durability while its stylish and contemporary design adds a touch, to your workspace. The desk also served as the welcome area with coconuts, a fruit platter and some prepared snacks waiting for me.
Bathroom Stonewear
When it comes to designing bathrooms adding stoneware can bring a sophisticated touch to spaces, for both men and women. Stoneware is a choice for bathroom fixtures and accessories due to its beauty and durability. At the Four Seasons, I had the pleasure of experiencing an area with intricate mosaic tiles that offered countless possibilities for incorporating stoneware into the bathroom. The bathroom felt exceptionally clean with a design that exuded a vibe and stylish elegance thanks to the stoneware elements. What’s more, stoneware is easy to clean and maintain making it a practical choice for hotel bathrooms.
Beige Oversized Stoneware Bathtub
Speaking of luxury in bathrooms the oversized beige stoneware bathtub is truly something. It perfectly complements any bathroom setting— one like at the Four Seasons overlooking a pool and offering a sea view.
This bathtub was meticulously crafted from high-quality stoneware making it visually stunning while durable. Its spacious design provides room for a soak allowing you to fully unwind after a long day. The beige colour adds warmth and sophistication, to the bathroom decor creating an inviting atmosphere that harmonizes beautifully. As I indulged in Thailand’s wellness retreats again I couldn’t appreciate how smooth the surface of this stoneware tub felt.
Toilet And Rain Shower Separate with Garden Views
When it comes to hotel stays there’s nothing, like having a separate toilet and rain shower. It’s even better when you can enjoy the views of the garden landscape while indulging in a warm cascade of water. This unique feature provides convenience. Enhances the bathing experience allowing me to fully relax without any interruptions. Just imagine entering a well-designed bathroom that caters to all your personal hygiene needs. The highlight for me was being able to open the glass door in the rain shower area and soak up the view of the garden—it was truly unforgettable. I also loved how the wooden floors extended throughout the villa including the rain shower section.
Mood And Lighting
For a luxury getaway look no further than a stay at Four Seasons Villa. They pay attention to every detail in order to create the atmosphere for their guests. Soon as I stepped into my villa I was greeted with a warm and inviting ambience thanks to carefully curated mood lighting. Personally, I prefer an intimate setting, to something vibrant and energetic—and Four Seasons Villa definitely delivered on that front.
With the advanced lighting control systems available I could easily adjust the brightness and colour temperature to match my mood and preferences. I really liked using the ceiling fan as it provided a cooling effect allowing me to save energy by turning off the air conditioner. Moreover, the villa had curtains that created darkness for sleeping, although I must admit that the captivating nighttime garden views tempted me to leave them open.
Breakfast Four Seasons – View and Food
I’m so glad I gave myself plenty of time to indulge in a breakfast experience, at Four Seasons. It was truly amazing to savour both the view and the delicious food. My day started with an exquisite buffet spread featuring a range of baked pastries, flavorful coffee and various healthy options. The selection of fruit juices seemed endless and refreshing. Course I made sure to try some Thai dishes too.
From fluffy toast drizzled with different syrups to perfectly cooked eggs, everything was meticulously prepared by talented chefs who aimed to satisfy my every craving. As I sat back and relaxed I enjoyed taking in the view of the surrounding landscape – whether it was the ocean or lush greenery. It was a tranquil ambience that allowed me to savour each thoughtfully crafted breakfast dish at my leisurely pace.

Lovely views from Koh Bar.
Fisherman’s Night
Fisherman’s Night is a BBQ and buffet on the beach accompanied by music and a lively fire show. The combination of freshly caught seafood from the Andaman Sea and the skilled expertise of chefs ensures an unforgettable dining experience. Fish, lobster and various meats grilled to perfection on the BBQ. Besides that, there is also an extensive Thai cuisine on offer at the various food stalls, with the dessert selection particularly impressive. With an endless buffet spread to choose from and staff making sure every moment is enjoyable, dining on the beachfront becomes a culinary experience.
Thai Fire Show on Beach
Witnessing a fire show on the beach is truly mesmerizing for people of all ages. While enjoying your meal, vibrant bursts of colour against the backdrop of the ocean create a spectacle that captivates everyone’s attention. If you’re seeking an awe-inspiring adventure make sure not to miss out on experiencing a fire show in Thailand.
The talented performers showcase their skills by twirling and spinning fire poi, breathing fire and even juggling flaming torches. All the while they gracefully dance to music. The captivating sight of the flames illuminating the night sky creates an atmosphere. Get ready to be amazed as these performers push the limits of capability displaying their talent and fearlessness. This extraordinary experience will ignite your senses and create lasting memories.
Conclusion
Located on the shores of Koh Samui, Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui offers an unforgettable stay. From the moment I set foot on the property I was immersed in a world of luxury and tranquility. The resort’s unique ambience sets it apart from accommodations, on the island. They treated me with care and attention ensuring that my stay was nothing of exceptional. The breathtaking villas, featuring infinity pools and stunning sea views provide a retreat for relaxation and rejuvenation. With a state-of-the-art spa and fitness centre guests have access to world-class amenities that offer a range of options for pampering and wellness. Meet the Palantir Mafia, who have collectively raised more than $6 billion for their own startups

- Some former Palantir employees have left the software company to build their own startups.
- BI identified 30 founders building in the AI, legaltech, consumer, and healthcare spaces.
- The Palantir Mafia includes Partiful, Ironclad, Joe Lonsdale, Anduril, Garry Tan, and more.
Move over, PayPal: there's a new tech mafia in town.
Meet the Palantir Mafia: from Y Combinator's Garry Tan, to Joe Lonsdale, to the founders of ElevenLabs, IronClad, and Partiful, the big data software company has produced a slew of former employees who now run startups and investment funds of their own.
More than a decade ago, PayPal set the standard for producing a formidable group of alumni who now run their own companies, including Elon Musk, David Sacks, Reid Hoffman, Max Levchin, and Peter Thiel — who later co-founder Palantir.
Now, Facebook and Oracle each have their own mafias and more recent tech companies like Square, OpenAI, and Instacart have mafias, too.
Palantir's original clients were federal agencies, and one of its core product offerings, "Gotham," assists in locating targets on battlefields. While some former Palantir employees are leveraging their experience to found defense tech startups, others are building companies in healthcare, consumer, AI, and enterprise.
Palantir mafia companies have been backed by top VC firms including a16z, Sequoia, Redpoint, and Accel, as well as the prestigious startup accelerator Y Combinator.
In total, the startups identified by BI have collectively raised more than $6 billion in VC funding, according to PitchBook data as well as founders themselves. More than half of that funding — $3.8 billion — went to one place: Anduril, the defense-tech startup founded by three Palantir alums.
Take a look at BI's list of 30 Palantir Mafia members who are now startup founders. We put Y Combinator's Garry Tan at the top of the list and then listed everyone else in descending order based on how much VC funding their startup has raised.

It's time to sweep into spring
Do you feel it? I'm talking about the warmer weather, the sun shining just a little bit longer, and the winter blues going away. We're enjoying the first signs of spring, and it feels reaaaally good.
With spring also comes a chance to renew your personal space. Not to give you too much homework, but it's time to spring clean.
Thankfully, BI's Life team has been all over the decluttering trend — and has spoken to many professionals and families who make this seemingly uphill task quite easy.
If you want to get started this weekend, declutter expert Sonia Weiser has three tips:
- Start with your drawers and closets. You want to tackle anything that's actually used for storage first: bookshelves, medicine cabinets, and even your desk.
- "Divide it by what you want to keep, what you want to donate or give to someone you know, and what you want to trash," Weiser says.
- If you find it hard to let go, ask an impartial friend to help you decide what to keep and what to toss.
For more tips, read Weiser's advice on decluttering with ease.
Colon cancer misdiagnosis
Getty Images; Jenny Chang-Rodriguez/BI
Colon cancer is on the rise, especially among young people. Early symptoms can be mild and resemble other digestive issues like IBS or celiac disease — sometimes leading to misdiagnosis in the early stages.
For doctors, diagnosing young patients is a tricky tightrope to walk. Colonoscopies cost around $2,000 on average, so doctors typically won't urge young people to get them unless they have serious symptoms or a family history of cancer.

New York City real estate is a beast, and $1 million doesn't always get you very far. One new luxury development is proof.
In the West Village, 80 Clarkson's most expensive unit is priced at $63 million. Buyers can pay additional big bucks for all the perks, like a $1 million private wine cellar — and don't forget to budget for a parking spot.
What's the buzz about Bink?

Bink is the latest brand to enter the water bottle craze, taking over the spot previously held by Owala and Stanley cups. The silicone-covered glass bottles are all over Instagram and pilates studios.
But beyond the aesthetics, are they worth the hype? BI's Amanda Krause tested one out and found them to be better than her Stanley — but not by much.

Fans of the hit HBO show know Patricia Arquette as the guarded Harmony Cobel. But her acting career spans an array of TV and film projects, and she's a voice for equality in Hollywood.

New York tech workers are flocking to a coffee shop across from OpenAI’s new office. I checked it out to see why.
The author holds a matcha latte and bagged treat outside La Cabra in Manhattan's SoHo neighborhood.
Melia Russell/Business Insider
- The next Blue Bottle has hit New York's tech scene.
- La Cabra's popularity has soared since ChatGPT-maker OpenAI put down roots across the street.
- The Danish coffee chain is famed for its $9 pour-over brews and cardamom buns.
The line to La Cabra stretches onto the sidewalk, a tidy queue of office workers and shoppers sauntering through the warm, muggy embrace of a New York City spring.
Inside, at least twenty patrons hover near the bar like caffeinated moths around a flame, clutching iced matcha lattes and croissants. A barista weaves through the standing-room-only crowd, hoisting a tray of pain suisse aloft.
Welcome to New York's hottest club: the café across from OpenAI's office.
La Cabra, the latest export from Denmark's high-end coffee empire, has inspired a cult following among Manhattan's coffee cognoscenti. Led by founder Esben Piper and head baker Jared Sexton, a Dominique Ansel alum, the sleek, minimalist chain entices crowds with its $9 pour-over brews and cardamom buns worthy of sonnets. Since the ChatGPT-maker moved into SoHo in the fall of last year, the line to get in seems to grow longer each day.
The Puck Building is becoming the red-hot center of Manhattan's tech scene.
Melia Russell/Business Insider
Nestled caddy corner from the Puck Building, La Cabra finds itself in illustrious company. The red-brick structure is owned by Kushner Companies, a real estate developer founded by Charles Kushner, father of Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of President Donald Trump, and Josh Kushner, founder of Thrive Capital. The outdoor gear retailer REI covers 36,000 square feet over three levels. Above it, employees of Thrive and a smattering of its portfolio companies badge into their offices.
Thrive Capital, with nearly $25 billion in assets under management, has a small staff of about 75 people. Plaid also leases the entire sixth floor, while OpenAI occupies 90,000 square feet of office space at its first New York City outpost.
Together, their proximity to La Cabra has turned the Danish coffee roaster into an unofficial think tank for anyone in the mood for a latte with a side of world domination.
La Cabra offers limited seating around the counter, where baristas prepare pour-over brews and matcha lattes.
Melia Russell/Business Insider
Amanda Herson, a tech investor at Founder Collective, says she's been buying coffee and cardamom buns for her office since La Cabra opened on Lafayette Street. She goes in the early morning "when there isn't much of a wait." Tech consultant Jason Liu agrees that mornings tend to have lighter traffic. On frequent trips to New York from San Francisco, he holds office hours at the Puck Building and dashes over to La Cabra for a chocolate croissant and iced espresso with milk.
First Round Capital is a five-minute walk from La Cabra, and partner Hayley Barna goes for the pastries and trendspotting. "Honestly, it's tricky to make it a meeting spot because seating isn't reliable," Barna said.
I went to La Cabra twice and found the line was much shorter on a Thursday morning.
Melia Russell/Business Insider
When I stopped in on a Thursday morning, I took in the scene from a stool at the counter, sipping a cardamom latte from a handleless stoneware cup. With its natural color palette and cabinets inset with panels of rattan, La Cabra feels like a Japanese ryokan meets Ikea. Baristas floated behind the counter wearing the de rigueur Danish uniform of beige shirts with three-quarter sleeves designed by Copenhagen clothier Another Aspect.

First, I dug into a $7 ham-and-cheese croissant baked to a medium brown and speckled with sesame seeds and parsley. It had a crisp, caramelized exterior so that when I bit in, a gust of flakes fell like helicopter seeds, which I picked up and popped into my mouth. The beauty of the laminated spiral gave way to a satisfying buttery crunch with a scant portion of ham. I found it skimping on cheese but recognized that more filling would make the interior soggy.

I couldn't resist trying the $6 Swedish cardamom bun I'd read about online. This knotted pastry was delightfully unexpected: chewy and dense like a cinnamon roll, yet airy enough to puff back into shape with each bite. The recipe goes heavy on the cardamom, infusing the pastry with a piney warmth and gentle sweetness.
The cardamom buns are known to sell out, though Piper, La Cabra's founder, says the chain makes deliveries from its East Village bakery three times a day to restock the pastry case. To expand its operations, the company has secured a fourth location in Manhattan, Piper told Business Insider exclusively.

As I licked my fingers clean of sugar, I scanned the cafe in search of employee badges or logo apparel, hoping for a glimpse of a startup executive in their natural habitat. In New York, unlike San Francisco, it seems that such overt displays of corporate allegiance are not as prevalent. Here, the tech elite and builders blend into the street milieu, swapping hoodies adorned with company logos for more voguish attire.
Feeling the caffeine buzz kick in, I left knowing that I'd return soon — if not for a meeting, then to try the pain suisse.
