Contrary to popular speculation, Chris Hemsworth's character in "Furiosa" is not Immortan Joe. Instead, he will be portraying a violent and charismatic warlord named Dementus. While Immortan Joe is the franchise villain, it appears that Dementus will be the primary antagonist in "Furiosa."
Revelation from the Cast of "Furiosa"
The confirmation of Hemsworth's role as the antagonist came when the cast of "Furiosa" was announced. Although the CCXP teaser didn't provide much insight into the film's story or Dementus, it did show him facing off against a younger version of Immortan Joe.
Chris Hemsworth Describes His Character
During the Furiosa panel at CCXP, Hemsworth gave the audience a glimpse into his character, Dementus. He described him as a complicated individual who is violent, insane, and brutal. Dementus is a product of the Wasteland, the world in which the "Mad Max" saga takes place. He has learned to rule with an iron fist and possesses a manipulative charisma.
Expectations for Dementus
It is anticipated that Dementus will be involved in multiple violent and bloody action sequences alongside Anya Taylor-Joy's Furiosa.
No Tom Hardy as Mad Max
Unfortunately for fans of Tom Hardy's portrayal of Mad Max, he will not be part of the "Furiosa" cast. Since the film features Taylor-Joy as a younger version of Charlize Theron's character from "Mad Max: Fury Road," it is likely that Max would also be portrayed by a younger actor if he were to appear.
While there is a possibility of a tease for the sequel "Mad Max: The Wasteland" in the post-credits scene, it is not confirmed whether Tom Hardy will make a cameo.
The Rest of the Cast
In addition to Taylor-Joy and Hemsworth, "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga" will feature Tom Burke, Alyla Browne, Quaden Bayles, Daniel Webber, and Lachy Hulme.
