Fallout Series Coming to Prime Video: What to Expect
A New Take on a Beloved Franchise
Fallout, the apocalyptic video game series, is making its way to Prime Video. Fans have been eagerly anticipating this fresh new take on their beloved game, but many are concerned about how it will treat the franchise's legacy. Will Prime's Fallout slot seamlessly into the events of the Fallout series? According to Bethesda bossman Todd Howard, the answer is a resounding "yes."
A Canonical Addition
Bethesda considers Amazon's Fallout series to be a part of the official history of the franchise, making it a canonical addition. This means that the events of the show will be recognized as part of the established Fallout universe. However, this universe is not without its quirks and eccentricities.
A Bizarre Universe
The Fallout games, even the canon ones, are known for their bizarre elements. From aliens with freezers full of samurai to mysterious blue police call boxes, the franchise brings a lot of weirdness to Prime Video. Fallout 4 features a bar that's a carbon copy of the one from Cheers, complete with skeletal versions of the regulars. The game also references Blade Runner and even Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. With all these strange elements, it's hard to say what else Prime's Fallout might include in its timeline.
Release Date
Fallout will be hitting Prime Video on April 12, 2024. Fans will finally be able to see how the series translates to the streaming service and whether it lives up to their expectations.
