Vellani is a fan of Jonathan Hickman's 2015 iteration of Secret Wars and believes that Kevin Feige and the MCU can adapt it to fit the current Kang-centric direction of the film world. Her theory revolves around making all three main players in the lead-up to Secret Wars Kang variants, tying in with the multiverse and the events of Loki's Tree of Life.
Understanding the Secret Wars Storyline
For those unfamiliar with the comics, Secret Wars is a continuation of the Time Runs Out storyline from the Avengers comics. In this event, Doctor Doom teams up with Molecule Man to take down the Beyonders, discovering that there are variants of Molecule Man in every reality. These variants are essentially bombs placed by the Beyonders to destroy the timelines. Doom uses the power of the Molecule Men to defeat the Beyonders, creating a patchwork universe called Battleworld. Secret Wars then unfolds on Battleworld as everyone turns against Doom.
Connecting the Dots
Vellani believes that the Kang variants introduced in the MCU, thanks to Loki's Tree of Life, can serve as the equivalent of the Minute Men from the comics. In her theory, the twist is that both Doom and the Beyonders are also Kang variants. Vellani suggests that a well-intentioned Kang variant could gather all other variants across the multiverse to defeat the evil Beyonder Kang. This would set the stage for a new confrontation between the remaining Avengers and "Prime Kang" on Battleworld.
