Netflix Drops Full Berlin Trailer for Money Heist Spin-Off, Featuring Surprise Return of Franchise Vets
Highlights of the Heist
Netflix has just released the full Berlin trailer for its highly-anticipated Money Heist spin-off prequel. The trailer showcases one of Berlin's most elaborate heists, which took place before the events of the original series. Fans also get a first look at the return of franchise veterans Itziar Ituño as Raquel Murillo and Najwa Nimri as Alicia Sierra, who play pivotal roles in the upcoming series.
Exposing Berlin's Past
The spin-off focuses on an earlier period in Berlin's life, which is briefly explored in flashbacks in the later seasons of Money Heist. Berlin is known for his ambitious heists and his belief that love and a million-dollar payday can turn a bad day into a great one. In this prequel, he sets out on one of his most extreme heists yet, aiming to disappear $44 million worth of jewels. To accomplish this, he enlists the help of a group of skilled criminals, including Keila, a cybersecurity mastermind; Damián, an academic and Berlin's close friend; Cameron, a loose cannon; Roi, a locksmith and Berlin's faithful sidekick; and Bruce, a gadget and weaponry expert.
Release Date and Production Team
The Berlin series, consisting of eight episodes, is set to premiere on December 29. It is created by Esther Martínez Lobato and Álex Pina, the masterminds behind Money Heist. Lobato, Pina, David Olivia, and David Berrocal co-wrote the series, and Lobato and Geoffrey Cowper will also serve as directors. Joining Ituño and Nimri in the prequel are Tristán Ulloa as Damián, Michelle Jenner as Keila, Begoña Vargas as Cameron, Julio Peña Fernández as Roi, and Joel Sánchez as Bruce.
