New Role, New Responsibilities

After nearly two decades of working on Star Wars projects and collaborating with George Lucas, Dave Filoni has been promoted to the major position of Chief Creative Officer at Lucasfilm. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Filoni revealed more about what this new role entails.

From Project Contributor to Creative Leader

Filoni explained, "In the past, in a lot of projects I would be brought into it, I would see it after it had already developed a good ways… In this new role, it’s opened up to basically everything that’s going on. When we’re planning the future of what we’re doing now, I’m involved at the inception phase."

He emphasized that he's not there to dictate, but rather to assist in telling the best story possible. Filoni even joked, "I need to be a help across the galaxy here, like a part of a Jedi Council almost… Literally, hours now of Star Wars storytelling I have done. See… I even phrased that like Yoda."

A Closer Collaboration

With his promotion, Filoni will now work closely with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and producer Carrie Beck as they shape the future of the Star Wars franchise and its various projects. This new position allows Filoni to have a greater influence on the direction of the beloved sci-fi universe.

Star Wars fans can look forward to several upcoming projects, including the highly anticipated Disney+ series The Acolyte and Skeleton Crew. The first season of Ahsoka recently concluded on the streaming platform, while the video game Star Wars Outlaws is scheduled for release in 2024.
