A Silent Spielberg

Hollywood heavyweight Steven Spielberg, known for his advocacy for the Jewish people, has been noticeably quiet in the wake of Hamas' brutal attacks on Israel. While Spielberg has used his films to shed light on the Holocaust and anti-Semitism, he has yet to make a public statement or sign any open letters condemning Hamas. As tensions rise in Hollywood over the Israel-Hamas conflict, the industry is looking to Spielberg for his voice.

Plea from Holocaust Survivors

The president of the Holocaust Survivors Foundation USA has penned a letter to Spielberg, urging him to speak out against the atrocities committed by Hamas. The letter emphasizes the importance of using his platform to support Israel's safety and security, drawing parallels to the moral courage depicted in Spielberg's iconic film, "Schindler's List."

A Fundraiser for Biden

While Spielberg has remained silent on the Israel-Hamas conflict, he is set to break his silence by co-hosting a celebrity-studded fundraiser for President Joe Biden on December 8th. The event, with tickets starting at $1,000 per person, aims to raise funds for the Biden Victory Fund. However, there is an asterisk to Hollywood's support for Biden, as recent comments from Dwayne Johnson reveal that many celebrities may not personally support the president, but rather promote Democrats in general.

As tensions continue to mount in Hollywood over the Israel-Hamas war, United Talent Agency has dropped actor Susan Sarandon as a client after comments she made about the conflict.

And, during the early days of the 2020 presidential campaign, few big-name celebrities threw their support behind Biden.
