It also focuses on the unlikely camaraderie between Newton and film and television producer Bert Schneider, who helped Newton hide from the authorities. The series is an adaptation of Joshuah Bearman’s name sake 2012 Playboy article. The first season premiered on May 17, 2024. There is no The Big Cigar Season 2 release date as Jim Hecht deceloped the show as a limited series.
The Big Cigar is a biographical thriller-drama series that reportedly takes place in 1974 and depicts events from a particular period of Newton’s life. In six episodes, the series will probably wrap the narrative it has set out to explore in the pilot. Apple TV Plus officially designates The Big Cigar as a limited series, so a second season is unlikely to happen.
The cast of The Big Cigar includes André Holland as Huey P. Newton, Alessandro Nivola as Bert Schneider, and Tiffany Boone as Gwen Fontaine. The cast also features Marc Menchaca as Agent Sydney Clark and P. J. Byrne as Stephen Blauner.
Why The Big Cigar Season 2 might not be happening
The Big Cigar Season 2 probably isn’t coming out because, as mentioned above, the show was created as a limited series. ComingSoon will provide an update if circumstances change and Apple announces the sophomore season of The Big Cigar.
